We are spending Christmas on the beautiful, remote Isle of Skye. Our hotel had Santa visit our room last night, leaving us a bottle of whiskey, some chocolates, and a lovely candle. This photo is the view from our hotel suite door - 9am is still pretty dark this far north!
Our wee bonnie lassie turned up sick a couple of days ago, so our tour of Scotland has also included the UK National Health Service emergency room. We just have to watch her breathing carefully for the next few days to make sure her airway stays clear.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Your mom told me today about Nora Kate. Sure hope she's feeling better! Belated Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are in the process of possibly getting approved (fingers crossed!) to move to Naples, Italy later this year. I was wondering if you had any tips on Naples, or could direct me to any blogs or sites you found useful? I really appreciate any and all tips, hints, or pieces of information I can gather before making the move.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking to reading everyone of your posts! Your blog was actually recommended to me by http://pcsitaly.wordpress.com/
Thank you so much for your time and help!
Happy New Year,
Sandra Hoyer
Hi - So sorry for the delayed response. I have been neglecting the blog of late. I hope you get the orders you want! I highly recommend that you join the Facebook group "Living Abroad in Naples." It's mostly made up of American military living here and every question you can think of has probably already been asked and then answered by a variety of people living here. It will give you a wide range of opinions. One word of caution, though - sometimes the group has a rash of complainers/whiners, so I just encourage you to take their opinions and know that Naples will be what YOU make of it for yourself!
DeleteAnother great website is the official one: www.cnic.naples.navy.mil - great info on moving here and base resources.
And for fun, I love the photos on the blog "Ciao Amalfi." The author is so positive and in love with the Amalfi Coast, and I find her enthusiasm very uplifting.
Good luck!
Hi! I posted a while back and just barely checked to see if there was ever a response. Thank you, thank you for all the info. I really appreciate it :D I have visited Naples before, but I'm sure visiting it far different from living there. I look forward to looking into your tips. On another note, the word on the street is that we might be getting our official orders in the next two weeks (eeeeks!). Dealing with the sequestration has taken a lot of patience, but the end may be in sight.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on moving the PNW (I caught up on some of your recent posts). My in laws live on the San Juan Islands, which are right off of Washington across from Vancouver, Canada. Not to sound like a drone, but I really think you will love it. It's gorgeous and there are definitely perfect weather days. Much luck on your upcoming move! Thanks again for the reply :)
